1. Who We Are

salary.run is a salary transparency platform that allows professionals to anonymously share and browse compensation data. We are operated as an independent project and can be reached at privacy@salary.run.

2. What Data We Collect

We collect only the minimum data necessary to operate the platform:

  • Salary submissions: Company, job title, level, location, years of experience, base salary, equity, bonus. This data is stored permanently and displayed publicly in aggregate and anonymized form.
  • Optional demographic data: Gender and ethnicity, used exclusively for aggregate diversity insights. Never displayed individually.
  • Usage data: Standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited). Retained for 30 days for security purposes only.

We do not collect: your name, email address, employer login, or any identifier that could link a submission back to you.

3. How We Protect Your Anonymity

  • No account or login is required to submit data.
  • No cookies are set on submission pages.
  • Submissions are stored without any session, device, or browser fingerprint.
  • We never sell, share, or expose raw submission data to third parties, employers, or advertisers.
  • Demographic data is only ever displayed as aggregated percentages across a minimum sample size.

4. Cookies and Tracking

salary.run uses no advertising trackers, no third-party analytics pixels, and no social media tracking. We may use privacy-respecting analytics (e.g., page view counts without personal identifiers) to understand traffic patterns.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your data. We do not share individual submission records with any third party. Aggregated, anonymized statistics (e.g., average salary by role at a company) may be displayed publicly on the platform.

6. Data Retention

Submitted salary data is retained indefinitely to build a useful, historical dataset. If you submitted data and would like it removed, contact us at privacy@salary.run with enough detail to identify your submission (approximate date, company, role). We will remove it within 30 days.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (including GDPR and CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your data. Because we do not collect names or emails, we cannot proactively identify which submission belongs to you — but we will honor all reasonable deletion requests sent to privacy@salary.run.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top will always reflect the most recent version. Continued use of the platform constitutes acceptance of any changes.
